Post Cabinet Briefing Summary – Thursday 29th October, 2015

Cabinet has decided to establish an Economic Development Advisory board which shall report to the Prime Minister.

Members include:

Dr. Terrance Pharrell – Chairman
Prof. Karl Theodore
Mr. David Abdullah
Ms. Allison Lewis
Mr. Trevor Lynch
Dr. Ralph Balgobin
Dr. Marlene Attzs
Two additional members are to be announced in due course.

 

The main purpose of the board is to develop a model of the economy that will allow for analysis of the short and long term impact of alternative policies and investment and to develop an approach for national innovation.

Cabinet was advised that the CSEC and CAPE Awards were announced and Trinidad and Tobago won seven of the nine areas of the awards.

Vasha Maharaj – Naparima Girls College – Most Outstanding Candidate in Modern Languages
Alex Navarro – Fatima College- Most Outstanding Candidate in Technical Studies
Feanna Haye – St. Augustine Girls’ High School – Most Outstanding Candidate in Natural Sciences
