Courtesy Call from High Commissioner to Australia

Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley received a farewell courtesy call from His Excellency John Pilbeam, High Commissioner to Australia at Whitehall on Tuesday 3rd September, 2019. This visit concludes His Excellency’s farewell tour it was his last working day in office. Mr Pilbeam returns to Australia on Wednesday 4th September,2019.

Mr John Pilbeam served as Australia’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago from 2016. This year, both countries celebrated 45 years of diplomatic relations. In May 2018, Prime Minister Dr Rowley accepted an invitation from the Australian Government for a working visit to Australia.

Trinidad and Tobago is Australia’s major trading partner in the Caribbean with two-way merchandise trade around A$41m in 2018 (exports A$19.8 million, imports A$21.5 million). Trinidad and Tobago is also expected to receive two fast ferries and two patrol vessels which are being constructed in Australia, in mid 2020.
