Prime Minister to Attend CARICOM-Mexico Summit

Prime Minister, Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley and his CARICOM counterparts will participate in the IV CARICOM-Mexico Summit on Wednesday 25 October, 2017 in Belize.

The main theme of the summit will be cooperation for the prevention of and treatment of natural disasters, an area in which Mexico has great experience and institutional capacity.

The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses will accompany the Prime Minister to the meeting.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and the Prime Minister of Belize, Dean Barrow will co-chair the one-day summit which aims to consolidate the progress of the III CARICOM-Mexico Summit (Merida, Yucatan, April 2014).

The scheduled talks further endorses the importance Mexico places on cooperation with the Caribbean in matters of security, migration, climate change mitigation and the prevention of natural disasters.

The Government of Mexico will provide air transport for the Trinidad and Tobago Delegation and other CARICOM Delegations, to and from Belize, City.  The flight is scheduled to depart the Piarco International Airport tomorrow Tuesday 24 October 2017 and return on Thursday 26 October, 2017.

Minister of Finance, the Honourable Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister until Dr Rowley’s return.
