National Day of Remembrance 2020

Earlier today (Sunday 8th November 2020), Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley joined President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes (ORTT), and Minister of National Security, the Hon Stuart Young at the National Day of Remembrance 2020 ceremony.

The event, which usually includes a parade by the various detachments of the Defence Force and protective services, was limited to the wreath-laying ceremony this year due to the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Held annually at the National Memorial Park in Port of Spain, the ceremony is meant to honour the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty during World Wars I & II.

Also in attendance were the Hon Chief Justice Ivor Archie, Chief of Defence Staff of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, Air Commodore Darryl Daniel, the Dean of the Consular Corps and the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Legion of Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League, who all laid wreaths at the Cenotaph.
