Trinidad and Tobago and China talk Finance and Trade

Finance and trade were the principal topics of a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley and His Excellency Zhou Xiaochuan, Governor of the People’s Bank of China and Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee today (Friday 23rd March, 2018).

The discussions were aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between Trinidad and Tobago and China towards fostering mutual interests in finance and commerce.

Prime Minister Rowley as leader of the Government welcomes Chinese interest in expanding into areas of regional trade where Trinidad and Tobago has a geographic and commercial advantage.

It is expected that Prime Minister Rowley will pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China later this year where these and similar discussions will form part of the business of both countries.

The visiting Chinese delegation also included: Ms. Zhu Jun, Director-General of International Department of the People’s Bank of China, Mr. Guo Kai, Deputy Director-General of International Department of the People’s Bank of China, Mr. Cheng Yong, Secretary to H.E. Zhou Xiaochuan, Ms. Lin Ran, Director in International Department of the People’s Bank of China and His Excellency Song Yumin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago.
