Prime Minister’s Media Conference – Thursday 02 July, 2020.

Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Community Recovery Programme which will evaluate and design a path forward for communities in need, starting with those in East Port of Spain.

Prime Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley made the announcement during a media conference today (Thursday 02 July 2020) held at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s.

Before making the announcement Dr Rowley acknowledged the recent killings of five persons in East Port of Spain and offered condolences to their families. He noted the frustration felt by protesters and said it is only right that residents get a fair shot at success.

The team will be led by:

Mr Anthony Watkins

*Consultant and expert in social pathology/ mental health, correctional services, and psychiatric forensic assessment.

The Prime Minister also said that the programme is an appendage of the National Roadmap to Recovery plan, which was designed by the government to move the economy forward Post COVID-19.
