Prime Minister Meets with BHP in Australia

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago  Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley along with Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister and Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, the Honourable Stuart Young attended a meeting at BHP’s head office in Melbourne, Australia on Friday 25th May, 2018.

The participants discussed BHP’s current operations in Trinidad and Tobago and in particular their on-going exploration plans which include the drilling of three wells commencing shortly. There was also discussion around the commitment of the Government to work with BHP towards future production of oil and gas in its fields.

BHP emphasized the importance of its assets in Trinidad and Tobago from its global balance sheet perspective and indicated its intention to move towards production of more oil and gas.

The company is internationally recognized as an expert in deep -water drilling and this should benefit Trinidad and Tobago going forward.

In thanking the Prime Minister for his historic visit to Australia, BHP also reaffirmed their commitment to Trinidad and Tobago.
