Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley visits BHP’s Deepwater Invictus

Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley visited BHP’s Deepwater Invictus drillship on 07th May 2019, for an update on the energy company’s deepwater exploration campaign in the waters off of Trinidad and Tobago.

He was accompanied on the tour of the rig by a high-level team from BHP which included Derek Cardno, Vice President Wells and Seismic Delivery and Vincent Pereira, President BHP Trinidad and Tobago.

 

The Hon Stuart Young Minister of National Security, Communications and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister was also invited to the tour and accompanied the Prime Minister.

BHP remains an important partner in the energy sector and the Government is committed to continuing its work with the company for the benefit of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

While on the tour the Prime Minister interacted with many members of staff and was given yet another opportunity to see how they perform their duties and the technical aspects of drilling for hydrocarbons. A presentation was also done highlighting the success of BHP’s deepwater drilling programme so far.

The Government is pleased that Trinidad and Tobago remains an important asset in BHP’s global portfolio.
