CARICOM LEADERS ARRIVE IN HAITI

The Trinidad and Tobago delegation led by Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley arrived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti at around 7:00 pm local time (8:00 pm in Trinidad and Tobago) today, Sunday 25th February, 2018.

Prime Minister Rowley along with other leaders of CARICOM member-states are here to attend the Twenty-Ninth Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference Heads of Government of CARICOM from 26-27 February, 2018.

The conference will begin tomorrow with an opening ceremony, after which the leaders will meet in caucus to focus on regional security issues namely counter terrorism, crime and violence.  The Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) is also expected to be discussed tomorrow.

The Trinidad and Tobago delegation also includes Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, the Honourable Denis Moses and Rianna Moradally, International Relations Officer, Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

Minister of Finance the Honourable Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister for the period that Dr. Rowley is out of the country. Prime Minister Rowley is expected to return to Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday 28th February, 2018.
