CARICOM Heads Meet UN Conference on Trade and Development

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and other CARICOM: Caribbean Community leaders, including Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr. The Honourable Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis and Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados met with Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi.

CARICOM has been engaed with the UN body working towards the full implementation of the Advanced Cargo Information Systems (ACIS) in all member states.

ACIS will provide Customs Divisions in the region with the capability to track, monitor and profile cargo prior to its arrival in or through the region to ensure that both timely and appropriate action is taken by customs and law enforcement officials.

UNCTAD supports developing countries effectively benefit from the globalised economy by providing technical and other types of assistance in trade, investment, finance and technology to fuel sustainable development.
