Prime Minister Rowley Visits Agri-Businesses

Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley visited three agri-businesses in East Trinidad today (Wednesday 17 June, 2020).

Dr Rowley visited the Turure Dairy Farm, a small farm in Valencia operated by a family involved in livestock rearing for several years.

He also paid a visit to the Aripo Livestock Limited farm which is a Public/Private Sector Initiative. This farm is involved in the rearing of cows, buffalypso and goats.

The last stop of today’s tour was the Blue Waters Farm, a private sector large farm which is a division of Blue Waters Products Limited. The company’s agri-division grows a wide variety of fruits using traditional farming methods. They also incorporate the latest technology with the use of a vertical LED freight container for food production.

At the end of the tour, Dr Rowley said that farming in Trinidad and Tobago is still a good vocation for many people with tremendous potential, noting that this kind of approach will take us toward reducing our food import bill by producing more and importing less.

Dr Rowley was joined by Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator The Honourable Clarence Rambharat, and Parliamentary Secretary in Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator the Hon Avinash Singh.
