HIGH LEVEL CONSULTATIVE MECHANISM DISCUSSIONS TO CONTINUE

Cabinet has noted a report on the Meeting of the High Level Consultative Mechanism between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Government that was held in Caracas, Venezuela on Monday, 26th October 2015.

At the meeting, several decisions were made on negotiations between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

The delegations of the two countries have agreed to have further discussions on matters of Trade, Security, Energy and Cultural issues. A follow up meeting will take place in Trinidad and Tobago in the second week of November. Details of the meeting are being finalized.

 

CABINET ESTABLISHES A COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT IN PUBLIC SERVICE

The main purpose of the committee is to examine the management of contract employment in the Public Service. This is in keeping with promises made by the Government before elections.

Members of the committee include:

Mrs. Sandra Jones, Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister and Head of Public Service – Chairman

Mr. Beresford Riley, Acting Chief Personnel Officer (CPO)

A representative from the Ministry of Finance

A representative from the Ministry of Labour and Small Enterprise Development

 

CABINET CONFIRMS THE DELEGATION FOR CHOGM 2015

A small delegation would be accompanying the Prime Minister to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which takes place in Malta from November 27th-29th, 2015.

The delegation will include Mrs. Sharon Clarke-Rowley, Prime Minister’s wife, Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Mr. Tedwin Herbert, Acting High Commissioner, High Commission of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, London, a Protocol Officer, an Ambassador, a Director of Trade, a Foreign Service Officer, two Security Officers and media personnel from GISD Ltd.
