Prime Minister’s Media Conference – Saturday 27th March, 2021

Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley has appealed to people in leadership positions in Trinidad and Tobago to encourage members of the public to respond to the COVID-19 virus seriously.

Dr Rowley called on the population to adhere to the existing Public Health Regulations to allow for the reopening of schools for senior primary school students and not bring a national drawback.

The Prime Minister made the announcement during a media conference held at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s today (Saturday 27th March, 2021).

Dr Rowley also called on the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to enforce the law as it relates to public gatherings and the non-wearing of facial coverings.

Minister of Health the Hon Terrence Deyalsinsh announced that Trinidad and Tobago is expected to receive 33,600 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from the COVAX facility on Tuesday 30th March, 2021.  The Minister also said the National COVID-19 vaccination programme is expected to begin on Tuesday 6th April, 2021. He said the vaccines will be distributed across 21 public health sites.

The Prime Minister extended greetings to the members of the public observing religious festivities. Dr Rowley appealed to the population to celebrate these holidays responsibly.
